Application Equipment

Rankin Industries™ offers two specialty products for Tungsten Carbide Application. Both are designed for heavy equipment and agricultural applications and provide unprecedented protection against wear and abrasion.

MIG Carbide Vibratory Feeder Assembly

The MIG Carbide Vibratory Feeder Assembly™ is a unique system for feeding all grades of near-diamond hard tungsten carbide into a molten matrix of tough high chrome, high carbon.  It is designed for use with a hand-held, semi-automatic MIG (GMAW) gun. The system produces an overlay that increases part service life up to 50 times on parts subject to severe abrasion and produces hardfacing deposits that are almost impervious to wear.

Tungsten carbide concentrations up to 80 percent are held in suspension by a matrix of Ranomatic™ 969, providing a rough, sandpaper like surface documented to outperform other types of overlay. It is simple to operate and produces high deposition rates. The MIG Carbide Vibratory Feeder Assembly™ works with a wide selection of matrix alloys, provides less carbide dissolution and offers high, fast deposit rates and thicker deposits for longer life.

RanCarb™

The RanCarb™ is a unique, automated system for bulk feeding of all grades of tungsten carbide. It is designed to be used in conjunction with Rankin’s hand-held MIG Carbide Vibratory Feeder Assembly™.  The RanCarb™ system produces virtually impenetrable deposits of up to 85 percent concentration of the desired mesh of Tungsten carbide, embedded in a tough matrix of Rankin’s Ranomatic™ 969-G wire. The system is easy to operate and ruggedly built. Its versatility allows use for overlays other than MIG-Carbide.

The RanCarb™ system includes:

  • Wire-feeder
  • 600-amp air-cooled MIG Torch rated for ArO2 gas
  • Sine wave oscillator
  • Manual six-inch vertical and horizontal adjusters
  • Variable speed travel carriage operating from 2 to 36 IPM
  • Lightweight ten foot beam assembly providing for 8 ½ feet of travel
  • Mounting Bracket
  • 33 pound spool holder
  • Stand mechanism with brackets
  • Easy operation control panel
  • Custom wire feeder designed for seven wire diameters (045”, 1/16”, 5/64”, 3/32”, 7/64” and 1/8”)
